Vestito ricamato a mano, a punto erba, filo da ricamo colorato, 2008

AIRSWAP C/O Manifesta7 the European Biennial of Contemporary Art, Manifattura Tabacchi, Rovereto.

Airswap mi ha chiesto di collaborare al loro progetto. Mi hanno mostrato un catalogo contenente una selezione di vestiti. Ho scelto un vestito su cui fare un intervento. Ne ho scelto uno un po’ retrò, con un pattern floreale.
Ho ricamato sul vestito la mappa della città di Rovereto.  Ho aggiunto poi i nomi delle maggiori città italiane, in modo da poter localizzare la città stessa. Il vestito è diventato idealmente una carta geografica dell’Italia rovesciata. E’ rovesciata in modo che chi lo indossa possa trovare la sua posizione.
Insieme al vestito c’è una spilletta a forma di stella rossa. La spilletta è da appuntare là dove la persona che indossa il vestito si trova nella città di Rovereto. Dopo pochi giorni dall’inaugurazione di Manifesta il vestito è stato rubato. Ne rimangono solo le foto.

Airswap asked me to collaborate to their project. They showed me a catalogue containing a selection of dresses. I picked a dress on which I would embroider. I chose a slightly retro one, with a flower pattern. I embroidered on the dress the map of the town of Rovereto. I then added the names of the main Italian towns, so it would be easier to locate it. The dress ideally became an upside down map of Italy. Upside down so that the people wearing it could find their own location.
Together with the dress there was a small star-shaped pin. The small badge was to be pinned where the person wearing the dress was located in the town of Rovereto.
A few days after the inauguration the dress was stolen. Only photos are left.
